XIANSU Originals begin with everyday forms, classical poetry and small observations of life. Design offers a new way of seeing; craft gives it a form you can hold. We hope to make works worth returning to, and living with, over time.

Original designs by XIANSU, expressed through porcelain and silk. Familiar forms, classical poetry, and painting find a place in everyday objects.

Xiang Jiao

The Xiang Jiao Censer is an original XIANSU design, produced in collaboration with the Chen Family Porcelain Studio in Dehua. Its banana-peel form holds a stick of incense; its name pairs 香, fragrance, with 焦, scorched.

Poetry on Silk

XIANSU’s original silk scarf designs continue the Jin Shu poetry-and-painting series through selected pairings and textile arrangements. Wang Bo’s Seeing Off Du Shaofu to His Post in Shuzhou meets Qiu Ying’s Parting at Xunyang; Li Qingzhao’s Zui Hua Yin meets Zhu Shaozong’s painting of chrysanthemums and butterflies. The poems and paintings retain their original authorship.
